How many international students are there?

A

We will start accepting international students for the first time in April, 2010. There is a lower rate of international students compared to other schools, and therefore we can offer an environment in which international students can interact positively with Japanese students and lecturers.

Can I purchase a student commuter pass?

A

Student commuter passes are not available. International students need to purchase them on their own

Is there any self-study room?

A

Yes, there are a free self-study rooms. However, since it may not be always available for meeting purposes, please check with the staff.

Is there any staff who can speak English/Chinese/Korean?

A

There are staff members who can speak English, Chinese, and Korean. However, since all the courses will be held in Japanese, it is encouraged that international students communicate in Japanese as much as they can. Please consult with the staff should you require an appointment in English, Chinese or Korean about our courses or concerns about living in Japan.


Living in Japan

How much is the living cost in Tokyo?

A

It is approximately 100,000yen to 150,000yen (including the rent) per month.

Does Vantan International Office support international students in looking for housing?
How should international students make a housing contract with the landlord?

A

There will be a brochure on housing information about real-estate agencies and student dormitories. Please contact us for further information regarding more information on housing.


About Visa

Does Vantan provide visas for international students?

A

Starting from April of 2010, Vantan will be able to offer 6-months pre-college student visa as a school recognized for its international program. We were the first school in the private sector to have an approval for this student visa. After July 2010, college student visa and pre-college student visa will be integrated as college student visa, so Vantan can apply a college student visa after that. However, Vantan is still a new school to accept international students, so the visa period is 6 months. School will check and do the extension of period 2 months before visa expiration. Students do not need to worry about the visa.

Can international students have a part-time job during the enrollment in school?

A

When international students wish to have a part-time job during the enrollment in school, they will need to apply to the Immigration Office for the gApplication for Permission to Engage in Activity other than Permitted Under the Status of Residence Previously Grantedh. After acquiring this status, they will be able to work under 4 hours a day.

what procedures are required when going back to the home country during the studying abroad period in Japan?

A

International students need to apply for a re-entry permit. Please contact the staff for further information.


About school fee

q01

How should I pay for school fee?

A

New students must pay the admission fee within two weeks upon the notification of acceptance to Vantan. The rest of the school fee must be paid in accordance with the approval of student visa application.

* Students who already have a visa in Japan have a different payment procedure.

* Students must pay for the transfer charge.

Will there be a refund when quitting the school in the middle of the school year or when the visa is not approved?

A

Refund will be made for the course fee that has not been taken by the student. Application fee and admission fee, however, will not be returned.

Does school fee include the expense for books and materials in class?

A

Expense for books is not included in the school fee. Educational materials fee will be 200,000 yen and detailed information will be available to students a month prior to the beginning of the courses.
