Guide for Application of International Students

Application Eligibility

1.

Applicants are required to have completed a regular course of secondary education (more than 12 years full time) in any country and / or have qualified to apply for a university of their country by the end of March of the expected year of entrance to Vantan

2.

Applicants must have a good enough command of Japanese to understand lectures held in Japanese.
To prove this, applicants must fulfill at least one of the following qualifications.

  • Achieve a score 200 or more in the subject "Japanese as a Foreign Language" by the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) given by the Japan Students Services Organization (JASSO).
  • Achieve a score 400 or more on Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT) given by The Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation.
  • Have had Japanese education for 6 months or more in a Japanese language institution certified by the Ministry of Justice.
  • Have had an education for 1 year or more in a Japanese primary school, junior high school, high school, or university (including junior colleges).
3.

Applicants must prove their financial ability to live and study in Japan.
Scholarships are not enough and the law limits financial supplementary income from part-time work.

4.

Applicants can apply even if they are a novice in the relevant field of interest.
(Not applicable to the X-SEED program.)


Application Documents

Photographs 4 cm x 3 cm (upper body shot of subject facing camera; hat not permitted; 6 copies, one of which should be attached to the application form)

3.

Certificate of graduation issued by your last educational institution (high school or university in your home country) (Persons currently attending school or who have dropped out of a school should submit a certificate with respect thereto.)

4.

Certificate of guardianship or personal reference

5.

Document verifying Japanese language level (See [2] of Application Eligibility above.)

6.

Photocopies of passport pages

7.

Photocopy of foreign residents registration card (applicable only to applicants who have stayed legally in Japan for at least 3 months; photocopies of both sides of the card should be submitted)

8.

Screening fee 30,000 yen (submit fee in Japanese yen before the enrollment examination to International Admissions Office).

9.

Documents to verify ability to cover the expenses while in Japan (see below)

  1. If applicants will cover their own expenses
    1. Certificate of bank balance
    2. Certificate of employment
    3. Certificate of tax payment
    4. Other (Applicants may be required to submit additional documentation depending on the screening process as it applies to them.)
  2. If the expenses will be covered by someone residing outside of Japan
    1. Statement of expenses (outlining how expenses will be covered)
    2. Documentation establishing the relationship between applicant and the person who will cover the expenses
    3. Certificate of bank balance
    4. Any one of the following as applicable (documentation verifying ability to cover expenses during the stay).

      Certificate of employment (where the person is working for a company or other employer)

      Certified copy of corporation registration or equivalent (if the person covering the expenses is a board member of a company or organization)

      Business license or equivalent (if the person covering your expenses is a sole proprietor)
    5. Other (Applicants may be required to submit additional documentation depending on the screening process as it applies to them.)
  3. If the expenses will be covered by someone residing in Japan
