- ＜1＞ What is accreditation as a school corporation ?
- A school corporation is a private school which has met numerous requirements set by the state. It is accredited by the governors of prefectures upon the application from the school which has met the rules with respect to the number of teachers, the contents of curriculum and equipment.
Vantan Design Institute has made a decision not to apply for the status of school corporation in order to adhere to its policy continued from its establishment in 1965.
- ＜2＞ Reason not to apply for the status of school corporation
- Vantan Design Institute has not made an application because “the rules with respect to the form of school” are incompatible with its education policy.The rules require more than half of the teachers in a school to be full-time teachers who have teacher licenses. In order to qualify as a full-time teacher, he/she is required to have only academic records and more than six years of experience in the industry. Furthermore, full-time teachers who are dedicated themselves to teaching may have difficulty providing education that properly reflects the latest trends of ever-changing industry. Of course school corporations have a number of benefits such as eligibility for purchasing commuter passes and a sense of security provided by the fact that there are always teachers present at schools. However, Vantan places utmost emphasis on “Education quality to help creators make their dreams come true ” and believe what students really need is “classes which can be provided only by someone who is actively working as a professional in the industry” rather than a sense of security.
- ＜3＞ Certificates issued by the corporations
- Staff at Vantan Design Institute has tried to explain the above situation to anyone they meet during the course of business to the fullest extent possible since the establishment of the Full-Day School in 1980. We explain to them why we don't apply for the approval and the fact that we are "a school approved by the industry". In order to exemplify that, we will show you certificates issued by the corporations who have employed our alumni, which show their endorsement of the school. The certificates state that “Graduates from Vantan Design Institute receive the same working conditions as graduates from colleges/universities ”. This speaks volumes about how much the education standards of Vantan are appreciated by the industry.
